New Born Baby Kidnapped from Labour Room in Abia State

Gunmen invaded the labour room of a maternity home in Nkwoegwu, Ohuhu, in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State and took away a new born baby while nurses were battling to save the mother from bleeding to death.

The baby, a boy, was still dripping with blood when the evil men seized and folded him with the bed sheet in which he was lying.

The mother, Mrs. Eberechi Ihezukwu, says she still thinks that she is in one deep dream, which she will wake up from. “I only heard the cry of my baby and I asked the nurse its sex and she told me that it was a baby boy. I have had three girls for my husband and this is the first male child. My heart was joyful as I felt that I have got an identity in my husband’s house.

With the joy, I was happy that if the nurses stopped the bleeding, its arrival would be a consolation for my travails. “Now see what they have done to me. My breasts are heavy with milk; it is a burden I have refused to bear. They should please bring back my baby to suck my breasts. I refuse to believe that my baby has gone; the God who put it in my womb for nine months before its delivery will fish out the perpetrators and my baby will be brought back to me. FG Terminates Bi-Courtney’s Lagos-Ibadan Road Contract

According to the press statement released from Minister of Works, Mike Onolememem he said: "The Federal Government today, terminated the concession of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway granted to Bi-Courtney Consortium on 8th May, 2009. The termination of the concession agreement by Bi-Courtney consortium and especially the failure of the company to reach financial close as provided for in the agreement.

Due to the senseless carnages on this important expressway which is part of Arterial Route A1, the Federal Government has also decided to embark on the emergency reconstruction of the expressway.

Consequently, the Federal ministry of Works has engaged the services of Julius Berger Plc and R.C.C Nigeria Limited to commence work immediately on the reconstruction of the expressway.

While Julius Berger would handle section 1: from Lagos to Shagamu interchange, RCC Nigeria Limited will be responsible for section II: from Shagamu to Ibadan.

The Federal Government wishes to assure that while it will continue to uphold the sanctity of contracts entered into by the Federal Government, it will not shy away from implementing provisions of the contract agreement dealing with non-performance on the part of the contracting party. Former Ikeja council Chairman, Toyin Hamzat, assasinated

Ikeja LGA former Chairman and special adviser in the Lagos Ministry of Health, Toyin Hamzat, was shot dead around 9:00pm last night along Sagamu Expressway, Ogun State while returning from his home in Aiyepe in Ogun State.

Though the police believe it was assassination and not robbery because the gunmen didn't take anything him. Five men have so far been arrested in connection with the murder.

Super Eagles to earn N15m each for Nations Cup title

Each Super Eagles star could earn as much as $100,000 should they win the AFCON in South Africa.

“Incentives will not be the Super Eagles problem at the Nations Cup,” a top official simply informed MTNFootball.com at the weekend.

“If they go all the way and win the competition, they will each take away about $95,000 and when you add that to their daily allowances of around $5,000, you will have about $100,000.

“And the chief coach (Stephen Keshi) will get double this amount.”

In the proposed budget for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, each Super Eagle player will earn $10,000 for a win in the first round, where they are drawn against defending champions Zambia, Burkina Faso and Ethiopia.

This would translate to $30,000 each if they win all three first round matches, the same amount they also received when they qualified for the quarterfinal of the 2010 tournament in Angola.

Wikileaks described El-Rufai who was living as destitute, "well-known to PolCouns eight years ago, when he was homeless and seeking a loan to import a taxi from the UK, al-Rufai is said to have recently purchased seven up-scale properties in a posh Abuja Neighbourhood.
