Gambian president warns homosexuals to stay away from the country or regret being born

The President of Gambia, Yahya Jammeh, has warned that any gay or lesbians found in the country will "regret" being born. During a speech on March 28, 2013 at the opening of the country’s parliament, President Jammeh said:

“Homosexuality is anti-humanity. I have never seen homosexual chicken, or turkey. If you are convicted of homosexuality in this country, there will be no mercy for offenders.

Homosexuality is anti-god, anti-human, and anti-civilization. Homosexuals are not welcome in the Gambia. If we catch you, you will regret why you are born. I have buffalos from South Africa and Brazil and they never date each other. We are ready to eat grass but we will not compromise on this. Allowing homosexuality means allowing satanic rights. We will not allow gays here.”

Pastor accused of raping minors at orphanage

A pastor and director of Light of Hope Orphanage at Akute, Ogun State, identified simply as Mr. Atunde, was on Wednesday arrested by policemen from Zone 2 Command, Onikan, Lagos State for allegedly raping two minors at his orphanage.

Punch  Metro learnt that Zone 2 began investigating Atunde after receiving a petition from Project Alert against him.

Project Alert, a non-governmental organisation, said the petition was prompted by a teacher of the school which the minors attended. One of the minors (name withheld) had allegedly showed up at school in March with blood dripping down her legs. Click to read more after the cut...

Pregnant Kim K and baby daddy Kanye West set to split?

Well, according to MediaTakeOut:

MediaTakeOut.com just got word this morning that a major news publication will shortly be reporting that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have split! According to our snitch, the pub reportedly has a high level snitch who is saying that the pair has agreed to split - but are not going to announce anything until after this season of Kourtney and Kim Take Miami, and after the Kanye's album release this summer.

The word is that he couple is scared of all the bad press that they'd receive if they split so soon. As for the "baby" . . . we'll see what happens.

I don't necessarily believe this but here's more. Kanye is on a self-imposed exile in Paris...so while Kim is pregnant, they live in different continents. Also, on Easter Monday Kim Kardashian took an 11 hour flight to visit Kanye in Paris. They were photographed on several outings with sour faces each time. Two days later, she was back in the US.

Comedienne Princess set to wed

According to what she told The Netng, she's getting married May 8, 2013 to her beau, Ade. She said:

“I’ll say we’ve known since 2005 because he’s known me since then, and he’s tried several means to get my attention. Even though it didn’t happen, he kept trying and recently, a friend introduced us and we hit it off. He’s a very quiet and private person, and someone who loves and understands what I do. He loves entertainment too, I won’t say more than that for now.” Congrats!

“Taribo West was 40 when he said he was 28”- Ex-club President says

Former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West, has been accused of lying about his age by one of his former club presidents. According to a report on Daily Mail, Taribo joined Serbian team Partizan Belgrade in 2002 after leaving Derby County and told club bosses he was 28. But now the former president of Partizan, Zarko Zecevic, has accused him of lying, saying the defender was actually 40.

"He joined us saying he was 28. We only later found out he was 40, but he was still playing well so I don’t regret having him on the team,' Zecevic said.

But according to the Croatian media, the former defender also lied when trying to join Croatia’s Rijeka club. At the age of 44, they said West told club doctors he was only 32.

It was only after an examination that the doctors raised suspicions with the club because West’s knees suggested he was older. He wasn’t signed to the team but later joined Plymouth and then Iranian side Paykan FC, where he ended his career at the age of 46 in 2008. Today his Wikipedia entry says he is 39.

Actress Funke Adesiyan denies having breast enlargement surgery

 Tongues started wagging after the actress was spotted at a party so couple of weeks ago displaying really large boobs (snapshot on the right), but Funke has denied undergoing plastic surgery as speculated. When asked by a reporter if she'd had breast enlargement surgery, the actress laughed and said:

"Of course it's not true. It's because of what I wore and how I packed it. My boobs are the same, no increase, and no decrease. It's all these jobless people that see nothing else about me but my boobs that started the rumour." 

Security Advisory: Increasing kidnap-for-ransom incidents in Lagos

This security advisory was sent out to expatriates who work in oil companies in Lagos. But foreigners aren't the only ones being kidnapped in Naija...so I decided to share with everyone. Read it below...

Recently in Lagos State, specifically between February 10 2013 and today, at least 10 confirmed kidnap-for-ransom incidents involving 12 victims have been recorded between Ikoyi, Victoria Island and the Lekki-Epe axis of the state. One incident occurred near Abraham Adesanya Estate on the Lekki-Epe expressway on February 10; four incidents on February 23, March 1, 21, and 25, occurred at Awoyaya area on the same route; two incidents in Lekki on March 23 - one on the alternative route, and the other a foiled kidnap attempt along Admiralty Way; one incident on Awolowo road in Ikoyi on March 24; and two incidents involving a Briton and three Lebanese in Victoria Island on March 23 and 27 respectively. These incidents appear to be random and opportunistic but mostly happened late at night. However, high-profile incidents are usually preceded by prolonged monitoring of intended targets.

Ekiti killing: Police whisk ACN chairman to Abuja

Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose

Police in Ekiti State on Wednesday arrested the state Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Jide Awe, at his Erijiyan, Ekiti residence.

Awe, who was immediately taken to Abuja, a source said, was arrested for questioning in connection with the killing of Mr. Ayo Jeje at Erinjiyan on Saturday.

Jeje, a former member of the ACN was said to have prepared to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday before he was killed.

Publicity Secretary of the ACN in the state, Mr. Tunde Adeleke, confirmed that Awe was invited  to Abuja  by the police for fact-finding.

Debunking the rumour that Awe was detained at the Police headquarters in the state before he was taken to Abuja, Adeleke said no case had been established against the party’s chairman.

North Korea threats: US to move missile defences to Guam

The US is sending a missile shield to the Pacific island of Guam as North Korea threatens nuclear strikes.

The Pentagon said the shield would be ready within weeks, adding to warships that were sent to the area earlier.

The North had named Guam among a list of possible targets for attack that included Hawaii and the US mainland.

North Korea is not thought to have the technology to strike the US mainland with either a nuclear weapon or a ballistic missile, analysts say.

Killings in the north: Return home if they don’t want you, Orji tells Ndi Igbo

Following the incessant killing if Ndi Igbo in some parts of the North, Abia State governor, Theodore Orji, has advised Igbo resident in that part of the country to come home if they were no longer wanted by their host communities.

Governor Orji’s position was prompted by the latest motor park bombing in Kano which caused the death of scores of Ndi Igbo.

Federal Government set to scrap NECO, cancels UTME

Federal Government has concluded arrangements to scrap the National Examination Council. Plans have also been concluded to cancel the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination being conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board for applicants into the nation’s tertiary institutions.

JAMB will however not be scrapped.

The government’s decisions, which would be made public soon via a White Paper, are based on the recommendations of the Stephen Oronsaye-led Presidential Committee on the Rationalisation and Restructuring of Federal Government Parastatals, Commissions and Agencies. Continue after the cut...

Yobo blasts Keshi over Kenya snub

Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo has said he felt ‘disrespected’ by Stephen Keshi for not being told that he would not be called up for last month’s 2014 World Cup qualifying match against Kenya which ended 1-1 at the U.J. Esuene Stadium in Calabar.

The Fenerbahce of Turkey defender, who is four appearances short of making a century of appearances for the national team, said on a radio station on Tuesday that he should have been told before the list was made available to the public.

This statement rhymes with the same complaint made by Peter Odemwingie on the eve of the Nations Cup from which the West Brom striker was excluded.

“I’m disappointed nobody called me before the team list was announced,” Yobo told Brila FM on Tuesday.

“It’s disrespectful. I feel disrespected. I am the captain of the Super Eagles and I thought the coach should have put a call across to me.

“I have no problem being left out,” the 12-year veteran of the national team added.

The Super Eagles escaped with a 1-1 draw in the World Cup qualifying match after a last gasp effort from Italy-based Nnamadi Oduamadi saved Nigeria from an embarrassing defeat at home.

Actress Stephnora Okere and Jim Iyke dated for a while many years back and according to an interview she granted Stella Dimoko Korkus in this week's Encomium magazine; she's still in love with him. Excerpts from the interview:

"I've been maintaining a low profile because of the fact that I wanted to re-arrange myself for the future having made one or two mistakes in the past.

Stephnora: "Both. First as an actress, I allowed myself to put on weight and that is not good for the kind of profession I'm in. When I gained weight, I lost a lot of offer for movie roles. My personal life mistake concerns my involvement in a marriage process that never scaled through. I got involved with someone with someone who doesn't understand what the word love means. It took me being involved in that relationship to realise what true love really means. It made me realise that I had loved and still do love someone else."

My wife is very fetish, uses juju, husband tells court

An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Tuesday dissolved a 40-year-old marriage between Kareem Adesina (65) and his estranged wife, Memunat, 56, over the woman’s infidelity.

The court president, Mr. R.I. Adeyeri, said that all efforts to reconcile the couple had proved futile, as the petitioner insisted on the divorce.

“The court has no choice than to dissolve the union; in spite of the fact that the wife still claims she loves her husband. “Both parties are no longer husband and wife, they are free to go their separate ways,” he said.

The court ordered that the petitioner should allow the respondent to pack her belongings in the presence of police officers and court officials. Adeyeri also ordered the petitioner to pay N50, 000 as rehabilitation cost for the respondent.
