Larry Hagman Dies at 81

Larry Hagman, who created one of American television’s most supreme villains in the conniving, amoral oilman J.R. Ewing of “Dallas,” died on Friday, the Dallas Morning News reported. He was 81. Hagman died at a Dallas hospital of complications from his battle with throat cancer. He had suffered from liver cancer and cirrhosis of the liver in the 1990s after decades of drinking. May his soul rest in peace…Amen!

We Need More Money for Food in Aso Rock, Presidency Tells Senate

The Presidency on Wednesday asked the Senate to increase the N1, 305, 292, 050 set aside in the 2013 budget for refreshment and meals and other miscellaneous expenses in the State House. A breakdown of the Miscellaneous sub-head in the Presidential Villa's budget shows that N203,752,432 was allocated for refreshment and meals; N107,412,768 would be spent on honorarium and sitting allowance while N37, 277,825 will be for publicity and advertisement. The State House Permanent Secretary, Emmanuel Ogbile, who appeared before the Senator Dahiru Kuta-led Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs, defended the N14, 715,566,104 budgets for next year. Mikel Obi charged with misconduct in alleged racial insult case

British Football Association has charged Mikel Obi with misconduct during Chelsea's October 28 match against Manchester United. Rea the statement FA released below...

Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel has been charged by The FA for an alleged breach of FA Rule E3 in relation to his side’s game against Manchester United on 28 October 2012.

It is alleged that in or around the Match Officials’ changing room at the end of the fixture, 

Mikel used threatening and/or abusive and/or insulting words and/or behaviour.

The player has until Friday 30 November 2012 to respond to the charge.

Mikel had claimed that referee Mark Clattenburg cast a racial slur at him during the match, but the referee has been cleared by the police.

PM news office in Lagos was gutted by fire yesterday

The head office of Independent Communication Network Limited, publishers of The News Magazine and P.M. News, was yesterday eviscerated by fire. The entire last floor of the three story building located at Acme Road, Ogba, Ikeja was destroyed, whereas the second floor was partially destroyed. No one was injured but equipment’s worth millions of Naira were destroyed. The fire was caused by power surge.

Building collapses in Lagos killing two sisters

A building located in Low Cost Housing Estate, otherwise called Jakande estate, in Oke-Ake-Afa, Isolo area of  Lagos, collapsed, yesterday, killing two graduate sisters.

The mother of the dead girls, identified as Mrs Coker, a widow, who was brought out of the debris alive was, however, in coma yesterday. Affected were flats 2, 4 and 6 of the six flat low-cost houses built over 30 years ago. Read more after the cut:

The actor finally opened up on his marriage status in an interview on Reel Radio yesterday.

Ghanaians are beginning to ask questions about the person responsible for controversial musician Mzbel’s pregnancy after it became clear that she was indeed pregnant.

When news broke that the musician was pregnant, she denied it vehemently but from all indications, the singer is very pregnant, although the question of who impregnated her is still unanswered.

Several news reports said a certain Maxwell Mensah was responsible for Mzbel’s pregnancy and that Maxwell was believed to be her manager.

Though not proven beyond doubt, the same Maxwell is also reported to be dating actress Nana Ama McBrown.

Although Mzbel is not under any obligation to tell the whole world who impregnated her, her silence is heightening speculations on who might be responsible.

Already, she has a handsome son in his early teens.

Perhaps, after delivery, the child’s father would not be hidden from the public any more.

CAN Slams Kukah, Bakare Over Comments on Ayo's Private Jet Gift

Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, has condemned comments credited to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah and Pastor Tunde Bakare, who claimed that acquisition of private jets by religious leaders diminishes moral voices of the church in the war against corruption and are therefore calling for a revolution in the Church of God.

Speaking in a telephone interview, National Director of Research, Planning and Strategy, Elder Sunday Oibe, urged the Catholic bishop and the former vice presidential candidate of CPC, that if they have anything against the person of Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, they should come out and say so, and not hide under the cloak of the gift of a jet to attack the CAN president.

Oibe, who doubles as the Public Relations Officer of Northern CAN, said he who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.

He said: “If there is any clergyman in the country whose constituency is government, it is Bishop Kukah, who served every government in power in the last decade.

“He thinks people have forgotten in a hurry how he served in Obasanjo’s government and turned round to attack the former president, or his fraternity with the former Governor James Ibori and his Rivers State counterpart, Peter Odili.”

President Jonathan's younger brother dies on his birthday

Meni Jonathan half-brother of President Goodluck Jonathan is dead. Meni Jonathan died around 11:45am today November 20^, 2012 at the State House clinic in Abuja. Same day the President turned 55.

Meni, who was said to be in his late 40s, was flown in from Bayelsa last week to receive treatment at the Aso Rock Clinic for an undisclosed ailment he had been battling with for couple of months.

Men, until his death was the chairman traditional council of chiefs in Otuoke Community of Bayelsa State. However, efforts to reach the Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, proved futile. Mr. Abati did not return calls or respond to emails sent to him. May his soul rest in peace...Amen!
