Bishop Caught Embracing a Woman in Bikini, Resigns

Bishop Fernando Bargallo of the Merlo-Moreno diocese in Buenos Aires, Argentina who was captured recently hugging a woman in a bikini on a Mexican beach has had his resignation accepted by the Vatican.

Bishop Fernando Bargallo, a Roman Catholic was placed in the center of a scandal when an Argentine television station broadcast his pictures of the bishop embracing the anonymous woman at a holiday beach resort, the BBC reported. One such image shows the bishop waist-deep in the water as he is hugging the woman in his swimming trunks.

Catholic Bishops are not supposed to get married, but instead swear a life of celibacy and give themselves over to God. The issue has been up for debate by the Vatican in recent times, although Pope Benedict XVI has remained firm in his position to uphold Roman Catholic Church teachings.

“Policemen said they should burn them alive” - Tekena’s sister

A sister of one of the four University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) students brutally murdered last Friday in Umuokiri village, Aluu, Rivers State, has narrated how her younger brother and his friends were lynched. Daily Sun reports

Miss Ibisobia Elkanah, elder sister of Tekena Friday Elkanah (both pictured above), revealed yesterday that policemen visited the scene where the students were burnt to death after they were severely injured and that one of the law enforcement agents told the perpetrators of the dastardly act “to burn them alive”

The murdered students, Chiadika Lordson, Ugonna Kelechi Obusor, Mike Lloyd Toku, and Tekena Elkanah, all part two students, were murdered in cold blood over alleged theft of a laptop computer and a blackberry phone. Ibisobia, a part-time final year student of Marketing, at the same university who witnessed the incident, said on that fateful day, at about 7.30 am, she was at the house of her girlfriend in the community when she heard people shouting outside. “I dashed out and beckoned on my friend to come since she lived in the area.

If you call me Illuminati, God might strike you down - D'banj

D’banj reacted to the rumor going round that he is illuminati in a recent interview. This is what our own D’banj said: "The reason why I am successful today is because of God. So if you can't understand my success or if it's too fast for you, please don't classify it as Illuminati. It is very annoying and God might strike you down, because he would not share his glory with any family”

Goodnight Pain. "Thieves" he screamed, it was almost funny. Not until more voices joined the chorus as they screamed and shouted on us. We could have run at least to save our lives, but our intentions were genuine and little did we know how the day would end. From a handful of young men shouting and throwing questions at us, it escalated to a crowd of angry mob. There was no way we could escape this one, so we calmed down. They pushed us around and then stripped us all. These men pulled us pants down; we were more than embarrassed, the whole community watched, I recognized few faces from the crowd. Obviously they were so afraid to say "stop" then the beating started, I wished it to be just a nightmare. But it was real, these men were determined. They dropped heavy rocks on our heads, they pounded our faces with large planks, blood covered our eyes, they matched and kicked us right on our bleeding nostrils, and we couldn't breathe.

Plane and Truck Collide at Mutala Mohammed Airport in Lagos

What won’t we hear in this Naija! Yesterday morning an IRS Plane scheduled for Lagos to Kano collided with an abandoned truck parked beside the taxiway at Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos. The wing of the aircraft collided with the truck which forced the Kano-bound plane to cancel the flight. Passengers were later put in another flight.

According to the airline spokesman, he said: “This morning our flight LVB 3306 taxied out on a Lagos to Kano flight with a transit stop at Abuja. The aircraft taxied out at 7:48am with 91 passengers. While taxing on the taxi way the Captain observed a FAAN truck in a ditch. There were no marshals around it neither was there any marking to indicate that it encroached into the taxi way. There was no Notice to Air Men (NOTAM) issued to that effect as well. The captain continued on his taxi and the wing tip hit a protrusion from the truck towards the rear of the truck. This made the captain requests a return to ramp from the tower and also notify the tower of the incident and the danger posed by the truck. The passengers were disembarked and accommodated in another aircraft which departed Lagos at 10:15am. The incident has been reported to Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority and we await the clearance of the NCAA to effect repairs and return the aircraft to service.”

Thank God there were no casualties reported.

My husband was always beating and maltreating me: TV presenter, Juliet Ojukwu

The former Soundcity presenter, actress and model Juliet Ojukwu has finally opened up on her failed marriage with her US based husband after been mum for a long time now. She met her US based husband Chima Ojukwu in September 2011 and within a week, they were engaged. Less than three weeks after they met, Juliet and Chima had their introduction on the 29th of September 2011, which was followed by a traditional wedding on October 4th. The white wedding was scheduled to take place in January in the US but it never held. A few months later, Juliet changed her FB status from married to single. Read what she said:

"We parted ways over irreconcilable differences. We were incompatible. At a point, being in the marriage became life threatening. If I was still in it, my enemy may have been dead by now, all in the name of trying to make it work and to avoid what people will say. I had to cancel the wedding in America because here in Nigeria where my family and his family are, there were verbal and domestic abuse. Going to a foreign land where I knew no one would have been worse. So, there was no need for the American wedding since it was already failing in Nigeria."

Achebe Hates Awolowo, Yoruba Race, Says Adebanjo

A leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has faulted extracts from Prof. Chinua Achebe’s latest memoirs on the Nigerian Civil War accusing the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo as the initiator of the pogrom against the Igbo.

The memoirs coming 42 years after the war, Adebanjo said, reinforced “Achebe’s pathological hatred for Awolowo and the Yoruba race.”

According to him, the renowned novelist needs to be cured of his Awophobia.
Reacting to Achebe’s memoirs entitled “There was a country,” the Afenifere leader in a statement on Tuesday said it was Awolowo who rather tried to prevent the war.

He said, “At the risk of his life, and against the advice of his cabinet colleagues, Chief Awolowo made contact with Ojukwu and met him in Enugu to dissuade him from going to war. In his one-on-one meeting with Ojukwu, Chief Awolowo tried to persuade Ojukwu to come to a roundtable conference with the Federal Government to iron out his differences with the government.

Some of our celebrities have reacted to the death of four University of Port Harcourt undergraduate students; here is what Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo fondly known as D’banj has to say concerning Aluu 4.

They were my brothers…and yours. Four days ago, I woke up to yet another unspeakable tragedy.

Four young men, all undergraduates, brimming with great dreams, unfulfilled aspirations and a promising future were killed. To express the depth of my pain and shock at their murder is impossible. And understanding how events could have degenerated to this level is truthfully beyond me.

Scientist Induced of the Existence of Heaven after 7days in Coma

A skeptical scientist who had spent his career studying the mechanics of the brain and dismissing patient tales of journeys to heavenly realms has revealed his extraordinary conversion after his own encounter with the afterlife during a near-death experience.

Dr Eben Alexander spent 15 years as an academic neurosurgeon at Harvard but he was struck with a nearly fatal bout of bacterial meningitis in 2008 and had no brain activity when he lay comatose for seven days at a Virginia hospital.

Though he was unconscious and unresponsive during that period, he is now describing a 'hyper-vivid and completely coherent odyssey' to a place beyond, filled with butterflies and resounding music that has shaken his scientific viewpoint on human consciousness.
