11 people are reported to have died following
clashes between nomadic cattle herders and farmers in a village in Adamawa
state, north eastern Nigeria. Recorded number of destruction as homes and farms
were burned in the violence that happened on Sunday.
The Adamawa state police spokesperson, Ibrahim
Muhammad who confirmed the incident said investigation is on-going to determine
the cause of the fight.
Fighting between cattle herders and farmers often
occur across Nigeria, as grazing herders allow their animals to graze on land
and eating and destroying crops belonging to resident farmers.
These herdsmen also routinely attack and kill those
who harm their cattle.
