Police arrest over 100 Biafran freedom fighter - BZM

Over 100 members of the BZM (Biafra Zionist Movement) were arrested in Enugu yesterday after they declared independence and raised a Biafran flag during a march in the state.

The last time a Biafran flag was raised (1967), there was war in Nigeria. The men arrested today, young men and veterans of the war, have been charged with treason.

The Biafran Zionist Movement members first gathered on Sunday to celebrate Ojukwu's birthday then marched through the streets again yesterday supporting independence for Biafra.

Since the war ended, sporadic attempts have been made to revive the Biafra movement, which have led to arrests.
