Gospel Singer Rev Patty Obasi is Dead

Gospel musician Rev Patty Obasi, from Mmaku in Agwu Local Government Area of Enugu State, died on Friday October 28, 2012 after battling with a serious illness for more than one year now. His two kidneys were said to have failed and was recommended for a kidney transplant operation in India but he could not make it for the opration due to lack of fund. His doctor said he needed not less than N10million for the surgical procedure, he died in the early hours of Friday after he slipped into unconciousness.

One of his sisters, that confirmed his death on phone conversation said Rev Patty Obasi gave up after the prolonged sickness without undergoing the kidney transplant his doctor recommended. Meanwhile, she could not state if any aid finally came the way of the popular old time gospel musician who had cried out to members of the public, the government and political office holders for financial assistance to enable him embark on the kidney transplant.
