10 pupils die in auto crash in South Africa

Johannesburg -Ten school children were killed and several others injured in an auto crash in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, on Sunday.
Senzo Mchunu , Head of Education Department in KaZulu-Natal, told newsmen in Johannesburg that the  victims were pupils of Okhombe Primary School.

“The learners were travelling back from Ladysmith after a sports event when their taxi allegedly hit a cow and plunged into a river,’’ Mchunu said.
Meanwhile, heavy rains experienced in Johannesburg over the weekend have caused several accidents.
“Heavy rain storms in most parts of the city over the weekend have resulted to a number of accidents.
“In one of the accidents, the driver of an Iveco vehicle lost control and hit a wall. The accident claimed one life,’’ Wayne Minaar, Metro police spokesperson, said.
He said motorists were reminded to drive with extra caution in the rains, saying, “it’s important that motorists reduce speed.” (NAN)
